Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 15, came desperately close to hitting the fastest ever IPL hundred on Wednesday.
The teenage sensation opened the batting for Rajasthan Royals in their IPL eliminator match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, with Sunrisers electing to field first after winning the toss.
Sooryavanshi proceeded to hit five fours and an astonishing 12 sixes to close in on a breathtaking century.
Chris Gayle holds the record, having struck 100 off just 30 balls in 2013, but he was at risk of losing it before Sooryavanshi was eventually dismissed for 97 off 29 balls.
Sooryavanshi hit a century as a 14-year-old in the IPL last year, and led India to Under-19s World Cup glory earlier this year when he smashed a hundred in the final against England.
