Welcome to Mirror Football‘s transfer coverage as the transfer window starts to ramp up. Teams will be scrambling to get deals in place before players make the trip to the United States, Mexico and Canada for the World Cup and potentially see their values rise.

It is a pivotal summer for a number of Premier League clubs as they face new challenges. Manchester United enter their first summer transfer window with Michael Carrick and are preparing for a return to the Champions League.

The Red Devils need to strengthen their midfield and have been linked to the likes of Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson already. Marcus Rashford’s future also needs to be resolved as the wait over whether Barcelona turn his deal permanent goes on.

Manchester City begin life without Pep Guardiola after the Catalan coach brought his decade-long stay to an end. If Enzo Maresca arrives could he target Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez?

Liverpool want to bounce back quickly under Arne Slot, but it will be without the help of Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian waved his goodbyes and the Reds now need a successor, with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande among the candidates.

Bournemouth, Sunderland and Brighton have all qualified for Europe too and will hope to strengthen their squads for the challenge, while Newcastle and Everton will hope to return to the top half of the table next season.

Elliot Anderson heads to the World Cup with Manchester United and Manchester City interested in his signature but it could be a long summer for any interested party.

Nottingham Forest will only sell him for market value and are set to use Moises Caicedo’s £115m transfer to Chelsea as a benchmark, reports the Telegraph, with the prospect of further interested clubs if Anderson performs well for England.

Manchester United are battling Fenerbahce for the signature of Rafael Leao, according to reports in Italy. The AC Milan ace is under contract for a further two years at the San Siro but a £43m fee has been touted, significantly down on previous valuations.

Leao has been booed in recent months by supporters in Milan, and his stay in Italy could end due to a difficult relationship with the club.

Yan Diomande remains a top target for Liverpool as they look for a successor for Mo Salah this summer. The teenage star has a release clause of £86m but the Telegraph report that the Reds can perhaps lower that via a player plus cash deal.
