Michael Carrick concerned by decision to let Erling Haaland derby goal stand

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick labelled the VAR decision to allow Erling Haaland’s winning goal in the Manchester derby as staggering and worrying for football.
Referee Michael Oliver initially disallowed the finish before VAR official Matt Donohue overturned the call, ruling that Enzo Fernandez was not interfering with play.
Defender Lisandro Martinez called the ruling unacceptable and an injustice, arguing that Fernandez’s offside position prevented him from marking Haaland.
Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca insisted the goal was completely clear and correctly awarded by the officials.
Maresca also argued that Bruno Fernandes should have been sent off alongside Phil Foden, who received a 23rd-minute red card for kicking out at the United captain.
