The National Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party, Diran Odeyemi, has said the collaboration between the party and the Accord Party in Osun State ended with the last August 15 governorship poll.

Odeyemi subsequently declared that the party’s candidates in the forthcoming general elections were ready for campaign activities ahead of the poll.

He said the incumbent lawmaker representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Olubiyi Fadeyi, remained the PDP candidate for the Osun Central senatorial district in the 2027 polls, charging members to mobilise support for him.

The PDP chieftain made this known in a statement signed by Fadeyi and obtained by our correspondent in Osogbo, Osun State, on Friday.

During the last Osun governorship poll, Odeyemi explained that the PDP deployed its structure to support the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party.

Commenting on the Osun PDP’s plans for the 2027 general election, Odeyemi further said, “The agreement between the party and Accord ended with the Governorship election and now the party is ready to support and work for Senator Ajagunla during the 2027 poll.

“In the Osun Central Senatorial District, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla is our Candidate and the PDP will Campaign and work with him.

The arrangement we had with Accord in Osun has ended with Governor Adeleke’s election.

“Gani Olaoluwa, the Accord Party Senatorial candidate for Osun Central is my very good friend. I have nothing against him, but, this is a party Affairs. I have been informed as the National Treasurer of the PDP to deliver for the party.”

The PUNCH reports that Fadeyi, previously an APC lawmaker, recently announced his return to the PDP during a telephone interview with our correspondent, saying, “I am back in the PDP led by the FCT Minister, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike. I have already written to the Senate.

“I can also confirm to you that I am the candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District for the 2027 Senate election.”

Stating his reasons for dumping the APC in his letter to the Senate, Fadeyi referred to the conduct of the 2027 National Assembly primary for Osun Central by the Osun APC.
