A vulnerable grandmother says she has been left terrified to attend football matches again after allegedly being punched by a thug Celtic fan before their dramatic clash with Motherwell.

Patricia Stafford, was heading towards Fir Park with her grandson on Wednesday evening when horror unfolded before kick-off.

Celtic would go on to snatch a dramatic 3-2 victory thanks to a last-minute penalty from Iheanacho but the 72-year-old from Ayr says the match was overshadowed by a shocking attack that left her bruised, shaken and suffering flashbacks.

The lifelong Motherwell supporter claims she was assaulted after a gang of youths who targeted her grandson for wearing a club scarf.

The attack is alleged to have taken place on Knowtop Avenue outside of the gate to the John Hunter stand.

A lane in the city centre of Glasgow has been taped off by police after a reported rape.

Police were alerted to the attack on West Regent Lane at 2am on Saturday, May 16.

Officers say inquiries into the incident are ongoing and are currently at an early stage.

The area remains cordoned off.

A Scots mum has told of the terrifying moment a stranger strolled into her house and into her daughter’s bedroom.

The horrifying incident was caught on a doorbell camera at her home in Wester Hailes, Edinburgh. The mum, who has not been named, says she now fears for her family’s safety.

In the eerie clip, the man, wearing a tracksuit, can be seen appearing to lurk outside the property, pacing back and forth. He then walks up the path towards the front door, and enters the house without hesitating.

The mum told Edinburgh Live : “I don’t know who he is or if he will come back. It’s the footage of him before he entered my house that really scares me. Awareness has to be spread especially in this area as it’s getting so bad here.”

Hearts players were “assaulted” as Celtic fans invaded the pitch following a late goal in the crucial title decider.

Supporters stormed the pitch moments after Celtic secured the 3-1 win and the title in Glasgow’s east end.

Celtic striker Callum Osmand had come off the bench to score the third goal in the 90th minute to seal the victory, which sparked the invasion.

The home crowd could be heard booing their fellow supporters after the reaction. But there were chaotic scenes at the full-time whistle as the Hearts players were escorted down the tunnel to safety – before quickly departing Celtic Park.

A police investigation has been launched after a flat was “petrol bombed” in a Scots town.

Firefighters raced to the incident on Crossgreen Drive in Uphall, West Lothian, after the alarm was raised at 4.20am. It is believed an accelerant was used to set fire to the door of the property on fire.

Crews attended and there were no injuries. Police say they are currently treating the fire as deliberate.

They are keen to speak to a male seen in the area around the time. He was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava and was heading towards Glebe Avenue.
