The Plateau State Police Command has warned residents, individuals and corporate organisations against operating drones without the required approvals.
The warning was contained in a public notice issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo.
According to the statement, the Command said anyone found violating the regulations could be arrested, have their equipment confiscated and face prosecution.
“The warning is aimed at strengthening security, protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring that drone operations are properly regulated across Plateau State. The NCAA remains the sole agency authorised to issue permits and approvals for drone operations in Nigeria.”

It said the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations 2023, particularly Part 17 on Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), requires operators to obtain the necessary approval and have an approved security programme before flying drones.
The Command said operators must also submit details of their planned operations, including flight locations, schedules and safety measures.
It warned that drones must not be used for criminal activities, including transporting unauthorised cargo, weapons or explosives.
The police also cautioned operators against using drones in ways that could cause death, serious injury or property damage, or pose a threat to public safety.
“Drone operators are expected to keep their drones within visual range, comply with approved flight altitudes and avoid restricted or no-fly areas. They are also warned that using drones to invade people’s privacy may amount to harassment, intimidation, trespass or an act capable of causing a breach of peace.”
The police added that they would work with other security agencies to arrest offenders, impound drones being operated illegally and prosecute those found culpable.
It urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious drone activities to the nearest police station or its Control Room.
