How to apply for FG’s Northern Nigeria agric programme jobs

The Federal Government has opened applications for the recruitment of 18 key officers for the National Programme Management Unit of the Value Chain for Northern Nigeria Programme.
The recruitment was announced on Monday by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security through its Federal Department of Development Partners Projects.
The programme, backed by the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the French Development Agency, is aimed at improving incomes, food security and climate resilience among smallholder farmers and other value chain actors in nine Northern states.
The participating states are Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, Zamfara, Borno, Katsina, Yobe, Bauchi and Kano.
Available jobs
The positions advertised include National Programme Coordinator, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Agricultural Production Specialist, Rural Infrastructure Specialist, Food and Nutrition Specialist, ICT4D Support Specialist, Gender Inclusion/Social Safeguards Specialist and Rural Institutions Development Specialist.
Others are Climate Change and Environment Safeguards Specialist, Knowledge Management and Communication Specialist, Financial Controller, Accountant, Finance Officer, Senior Internal Auditor, Procurement Specialist, Procurement Officer, Procurement Assistant, and National Administrative and Human Resource Officer.
Requirements
Most of the positions require a minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant field and seven to 10 years of professional experience, particularly in internationally funded agricultural development projects.
The advertisement also requires professional accounting qualifications for some finance and audit positions, while procurement roles require relevant professional memberships.
Successful applicants will be offered two-year renewable contracts, subject to annual performance evaluation.
They will be based in Abuja but are expected to travel regularly to the nine participating states.
How to apply
Interested applicants are required to submit 10 copies of their Expression of Interest, comprising one original and nine photocopies.
Each application must contain:
- A curriculum vitae
- A cover letter tailored to the specific position being applied for
The application should be sealed and clearly marked:
“EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI) FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF NATIONAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT UNIT UNDER THE FGN/IFAD/AFD-VCN PROJECT.”
Applications are to be delivered to the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, through the Director, Federal Department of Development Partners Projects, at:
Fadama House, No. 1, Eldoret Close, Off Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja.
The deadline is September 6, 2026, at 12 noon.
The advertisement warned that falsification of personal data would lead to disqualification. It also stated that appointees, particularly the National Programme Coordinator, must not have any other ongoing assignment when their contracts commence.
The Value Chain for Northern Nigeria Programme is scheduled to run until March 31, 2034, with financial closure set for September 30, 2034.
