  • Over seven million 10p coins featuring King Charles III‘s portrait are being released into general UK circulation for the first time.
  • The Royal Mint is distributing 600,000 coins dated 2023 and 6.5 million dated 2026 to meet a heightened demand for the denomination.
  • Featuring a capercaillie bird on the reverse side, the 10p is the fourth denomination to showcase the King’s image.
  • Coins displaying the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II remain legal tender, with the aim of ensuring a smooth transition with minimal environmental impact and cost.
  • The new coins will be available through post offices and bank branches.
