The Chairman of Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area in Kebbi State and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hussaini Aliyu Bena, has dismissed rumours of a political rift in the state circulating on social media, with claims that the state government has anointed a sole candidate for the Zuru/Sakaba/Fakai/Danko-Wasagu Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.

Bena described the reports as false, insisting that Governor Nasir Idris has not imposed any candidate but has allowed all interested aspirants under the All Progressives Congress, APC, to freely contest party tickets without interference.

He made the clarification during an event in Birnin Kebbi, insisting that the claims were being spread by individuals outside the APC and those opposed to the developmental strides of the state government.

According to him, the administration of Governor Idris remains committed to internal democracy and fair political competition within the party.

The council chairman urged APC stakeholders in the state to disregard what he called misleading social media content, adding that such narratives would not affect party unity in the region.
