The Taraba State Government has pledged its full support for the immediate establishment of the newly created Nigerian Army 10 Division in Jalingo, offering land and other critical infrastructure required for its take-off.

The commitment was made on Monday when a delegation from the Army Headquarters, Abuja, led by Major General I. O. Bassey visited the state to assess available facilities, verify resources and engage the state government on the requirements for establishing the new division.

Representing Governor Agbu Kefas, the Secretary to the Taraba State Government, Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps, said the state was delighted by the decision to establish the Army division in Jalingo and was prepared to work closely with military authorities to ensure its immediate take-off.

Kataps said the protection of lives and property remained a major priority of the state government, adding that the administration would support initiatives capable of strengthening security across Taraba.

He said the state had sufficient land to accommodate security infrastructure and strategic military formations, stressing that the government was ready to facilitate land allocation in Karim-Lamido, Bali, Wukari and Gembu for brigades and battalions that may be established under the new division.

“The presence of the 10 Division in Jalingo will further strengthen Taraba’s security architecture while contributing to peace, stability and development in the state and beyond,” Kataps said.

The Army delegation’s visit was part of ongoing preparations for the establishment of the division.

The assessment included an inspection of existing facilities, verification of available resources and identification of additional requirements needed for the effective operation of the formation.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the Army authorities and the state government to discuss areas of collaboration and the practical steps required to facilitate the take-off of the new division.

The proposed establishment of the 10 Division in Jalingo is expected to deepen collaboration between the military and the Taraba State Government while enhancing the state’s capacity to respond to security challenges and protect communities across the state.

The state government’s pledge of land and infrastructure support is expected to facilitate the early establishment of the division and provide the necessary foundation for its operations in Taraba.
