Suspected gang boss Daniel Kinahan returns to Ireland in high-security extradition

Suspected Irish crime boss Daniel Kinahan has been extradited from Dubai and handed over to authorities in Ireland.
Kinahan was arrested in Dubai in April after being named by the United States as one of three leaders of the Kinahan Organised Crime Group, with a $5m reward offered for their arrest.
The extradition follows months of preparation, with an Irish government jet transporting Kinahan from the UAE to Ireland on Saturday.
The operation is described as one of the largest security undertakings by the Irish government, involving snipers, bomb-proof vans, and signal jammers.
Kinahan, who left Ireland after a 2016 assassination attempt and a feud with the Hutch crime gang, said in a voice message that he was “looking forward to getting back home”.
