Police reopen Farage ‘firebomb’ investigation amid Widdecombe murder inquiry
- Counter-terror police probing the alleged murder of former Tory MP Ann Widdecombe have reopened an investigation into a “firebomb” attack at Reform UK leader Nigel Farage’s home.
- A “lit incendiary device” was reportedly posted through Mr Farage’s mailbox in April 2025, which he described as an ‘outright arson attempt’ that burned itself out.
- The initial investigation by the Metropolitan Police and Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London into an “attempted burglary” was closed without arrests.
- CTP London has since identified a line of inquiry that was not pursued at the time, leading the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) to investigate a staff member for alleged failure.
- Ms Widdecombe, a Reform UK spokesperson, died on 8 July, and Joshua Kerry, 28, has been charged with her murder.
