A significant swathe of the UK is poised to enjoy temperatures reaching 22C, according to fresh weather maps.
Areas including West Sussex, East Sussex, Surrey, Kent, London and Essex are forecast to experience highs of 22C by Friday evening, May 22, based on maps released by WXCharts, utilising MetDesk data.
The warmest conditions are anticipated in more protected inland locations away from coastal areas, especially across eastern Kent, regions surrounding the Thames Estuary, sections of Essex and Suffolk, alongside areas near the Norfolk and Suffolk boundary.
Across the remainder of southern England and south Wales, temperatures are predicted to remain in the upper teens.
Moving northwards, the maps indicate temperatures will be lower, though still relatively mild. Large portions of the Midlands are marked for highs in the late teens, while northern Wales, northern England and Scotland are forecast to witness gentler temperatures, ranging between approximately 13 to 17C. Northern Ireland may be slightly warmer, with temperatures around 18C in certain spots, reports the Mirror.

In its extended forecast covering Thursday, May 14, through to Saturday, May 23, the Met Office states that conditions during the opening phase will be “changeable and at times rather unsettled”, featuring periods of rain or showers, some heavy, interspersed with drier breaks.
The forecaster continues: “By the end of this period, pressure may increase towards the southwest, which could bring more in the way of dry weather here.”
Looking beyond to Sunday, May 24, extending through to Sunday, June 7, the Met Office states: “Compared to earlier in the month, patterns which bring more settled weather are more likely to dominate towards the end of May.

“Whilst further rain and showers are possible at times, there is likely to be longer spells of fine and dry weather.
“Temperatures are most likely to recover close to average, perhaps becoming warm at times. Into June, more mixed conditions are likely with spells of rain and showers, but also some drier weather at times.”
