Factional Labour Party National Vice Chairman (South West), Dr Abayomi Arabambi, says the defection of ex-Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, is not his final destination.
Arabambi made this remark while fielding questions in an interview on Arise Television.
He was speaking on the emergence of Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, as the presidential flag bearer of the NDC in the next year’s general elections.
“Peter Obi’s move to the NDC is not his final destination. If he thinks he has found a safe haven after destabilising the Labour Party, he may soon face serious political pushback from those still within the party structure.
“He cannot weaken a platform and simply move on without consequences, as internal political realities will eventually catch up with him.
“Ultimately, the political space is competitive, and no one can impose themselves without broad acceptance.
“However, the final decision rests with Nigerians, and no candidate can become president without addressing issues of governance, accountability, and the fight against corruption,” he said.
