Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has blasted President Bola Tinubu over his silence on a comment made by Islamic cleric, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir.
According to Ayodele, Jingir should be jailed.
Speaking in a video posted on social media, Primate Ayodele warned that Nigerian Christians could be in trouble if such statements were not cautioned.
DAILY POST reports that Jingir, in a video circulating on social media, said whoever did not want to accept a Muslim-Muslim ticket should leave Nigeria because, according to him, the country belonged to Muslims.
He referred to Christians as “infidels.”
Reacting, Primate Ayodele stated that the government would have responded differently if a Christian religious leader had made similar comments.
“If the government does not caution this, then Christianity is in trouble in Nigeria. This senseless old fool, Islamic cleric Jingir, should be in jail by now.
“If a Christian had made such a statement, they would have picked him up immediately,” Ayodele said.
He urged the Bola Tinubu-led government to warn Jingir and other religious leaders against inflammatory rhetoric.
The cleric also warned that failure to address such statements could further undermine peaceful coexistence and national unity.
