The 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, says he is not desperate to become President of Nigeria.

In an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Sunday Politics’, Obi insisted that his overriding ambition is to see the country work for the benefit of all citizens.

He was speaking about his vision for governance and his commitment to supporting any initiative capable of moving Nigeria forward.

According to the former Anambra state governor, his political aspiration is driven by the desire to fix the country’s challenges rather than a personal quest for power.

“I am not desperate to become President of Nigeria. I am desperate to see Nigeria work. If it is working, I will support whatever makes it work,” Obi said.

The politician noted that effective leadership should be measured by its ability to improve the lives of Nigerians, restore public confidence in governance and create opportunities for economic growth.

The NDC presidential candidate emphasized that national development should take precedence over personal ambition, adding that Nigeria needs leaders who are genuinely committed to solving the country’s problems.

He also reiterated his commitment to reforms aimed at improving governance, strengthening public institutions and rebuilding the economy if elected in the 2027 presidential election.
