France Football, the organisers of the Ballon d’Or award, will unveil the nominees for this year’s award today, Tuesday, September 8.
Fans and pundits are expecting 30-man and 30-woman shortlists of the best male and female footballers, respectively.
In total, there will be shortlists for 12 award categories.
The nominated players, coaches and clubs will be confirmed ahead of the main ceremony in London on October 26.

Names like Kylian Mbappe (France, Real Madrid), Harry Kane (England, Bayern Munich), Lamine Yamal (Spain, Barcelona), Rodri (Spain, Manchester City) and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Georgia, PSG) are expected to make the cut in the men’s category.
The current holder of the award is PSG’s Ousmane Dembele, who won it ahead of Yamal last year.
