11-year-old twins, younger sister found dead on Ondo farm

A family in Akure, Ondo State, has been plunged into mourning after three siblings, including 11-year-old twins, were found dead near the bank of a small river on a farm around the Owena Army Barracks.

The deceased were identified as Joshua Jonah, 11; his twin brother, Jacob Jonah, 11; and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah.

The children were said to have accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday, September 4, 2026.

They reportedly left the farm later in the day and headed towards home. However, their father discovered they were missing after returning home, leading to a search for the three children.

The search reportedly ended on Saturday when their bodies were discovered near the bank of a small river within the farm.

The deaths have left the family devastated, with the loss of three siblings in the same incident deepening the tragedy.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, said the command had commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Abayomi said the children had gone to the farm with their father before they were later reported missing.

He added that the bodies had been released to their father for burial, while the police continued to document the incident and investigate what led to their deaths.

According to him, “The Ondo State Police Command confirms the tragic loss of three siblings at a farm located around the Owena Army Barracks, Akure, on 4th September 2026.

“The victims, identified as Joshua Jonah, 11 years; Jacob Jonah, 11 years, (twins), and Blessing Jonah, five years, reportedly accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm.

“They later left the farm for home but were discovered missing when their father returned home.”
