Few skincare products split opinion quite like eye creams for mature skin. While loyal fans credit them with smoothing wrinkles, tackling puffiness and minimising dark circles, sceptics question whether they’re really necessary, especially for the fragile skin around the eyes, which is much thinner than elsewhere on the face.
Until recently, I fell firmly into the sceptical camp. At 57, I found many anti-ageing eye creams left the delicate skin around my eyes feeling heavy and puffy, making me wonder whether they were worth adding to my routine at all. That changed after putting a selection to the test. Today’s formulas are far more advanced than they once were, with lightweight textures that absorb quickly, deliver a cooling, refreshing sensation and target common concerns such as fine lines, crow’s feet and signs of tiredness. I’m now convinced a good eye cream can make a noticeable difference.
After testing countless eye creams, these were the clear winners, helping reduce puffiness, brighten dark circles and leave eyes looking refreshed.
