  • Sir Paul McCartney highlighted the unifying power of music, citing his song “Hey Jude” as an example that brings together audiences, including political rivals in Donald Trump’s America, making them forget their differences and sing together.
  • The Beatles legend, 83, shared this perspective during an appearance on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, where he discussed how the song creates a shared moment of enjoyment among people who might otherwise be “at each other’s throats.”
  • McCartney also explained his policy of not taking selfies with fans, stating that he finds the prevalence of phones has changed fan interactions and he prefers not to engage in photo requests.
  • He elaborated on his refusal, telling hosts Richard Osman and Marina Hyde that he does not want to feel like a “performing monkey”, drawing a comparison to a man with a monkey on the beachfront in Saint-Tropez.
  • McCartney’s eighteenth solo studio album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, is scheduled for release on 29 May.
