Hillary Clinton ridicules proposal for Trump’s face on $250 bill
Scott Bessent says legislation to put Trump on $250 bill has been ‘proposed’
Treasury Department officials have requested prototype designs for a new $250 bill featuring President Donald Trump, despite internal pushback and existing legal barriers.
Hillary Clinton and other Democrats criticized the proposal, suggesting the bill would quickly lose value due to the president’s current policies
“By the end of Trump’s term, it’ll be just enough to buy one gallon of gas and a carton of eggs,” Clinton wrote on X, alluding to recent price increases.
Current U.S. law prohibits living individuals from appearing on currency, a standard that has been in place for over 150 years.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed preliminary planning for the bill but stated it is contingent on congressional action to change existing laws.
