Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has been forced to delay his wedding to fiancé Jonathan Myring yet again due to his hectic work schedule and ongoing renovations at his £2million country pile.

The 61-year-old, who has been engaged to horticulturalist Jonathan, 39, since 2020, told The Mirror they have finally decided on a wedding date – but it won’t be until August 2028.

“Every time we plan it, something comes up, like the house build took another two years to complete, and it still hasn’t been completed,” Craig told us.

“We were meant to be getting married in 2025. That didn’t happen. So we thought 2026, then 2027 – but my house isn’t going to be built. So we’ve now decided on 2028.”

He added: “I’ve only got a week off in 2028 where I can actually put it in. It will just be quick and easy in August.”

The couple, who met on Tinder and had their first date in 2018, have been doing a head-to-toe renovation of their 19th century Northamptonshire home since buying it in 2021, with the work so extensive that they have been living in an annex on the site that Craig likens to “the size of a caravan.”

At one point the property was left with no outer walls at all – just a roof and upper floor held up by poles. “The whole reason we put the whole thing off was because we wanted to do it at our home that we’ve built together,” Craig explained.

He also revealed his ideas for the big day: “I don’t like wedding speeches. I think they should be banned. Why bore everyone with a best man’s horrible speech that never is funny, or just embarrasses the bride and groom?”

Craig was speaking to us ahead of this week’s launch of Judgemental, a podcast he’s hosting with Strictly co-judge Anton Du Beke, 59.

Both stars will also return to the BBC ballroom series when it returns this autumn following a major shake-up. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who stepped down as co-hosts last year after 11 years, will be replaced by Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe. Several pro dancers have also been axed.

“We’ve got new hosts and some new dancers, so it’s going to be very exciting. A new beginning,” Anton told us. “Then you’ll have the 15 new celebrities on top. So really, there’s a lot going on. It will be great.” He added the cast shake-up is “a great thing”.

Anton and Craig confirmed they have both reached out to the new hosts to welcome them. “I’ve sent them a text to say well done, looking forward to seeing you and all that,” Anton said.
