The Airdrie & Coatbridge United Schools Cup Final for S2 boys was played at The Albert Bartlett Stadium, sponsored by Airdrie & Coatbridge 41 Club in association with Airdrieonians FC & Airdrie Community Trust.
The final resulted in a 3-1 victory for Chryston High School against St Andrews High School.
It was a very entertaining and energetic game of football with St Andrews High taking a 1-0 lead at half-time with Chryston scoring three in the second half to clinch the game and take home the Cup.
The winners and runners-up were presented with their medals at the end of the game, and the Airdrie & Coatbridge United Schools Cup was presented to the Chryston Captain by Stuart Millar, ex Airdrieonians Player in the 1980’s, previous Director of Football who also held an Ambassador role at Airdrieonians.
The player of the match, chosen by the sponsors Airdrie & Coatbridge 41 Club was duly awarded to Chryston’s number seven for his contribution throughout the game.
A 41 Club spokesperson said: “A very big vote of thanks to Airdrieonians FC, Airdrie Community Trust, NLC Active Schools Coordinators, everyone associated with the Albert Bartlett stadium, all players and coaches who took part in the tournament, and the supporters who turned up in support of their teams.
“All eyes now focused on looking forward to next year’s tournament.”
