The Nigeria Customs Service, Lagos Free Trade Zone Command, has disclosed that it collected a total revenue of N408.8bn between January and June 2026.

In a statement on Thursday, the Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, Hauwa Abubakar, disclosed this at the command in Lekki while speaking during the 2026 Half-Year Media Briefing.

The CAC stated that the figure represented an increase of N91.54bn when compared to the N317.3bn collected within the same period in 2025, “amounting to an impressive 28.85 per cent increase in revenue performance.”

“Between January and June 2026, the command generated a total revenue of N408.8bn. This represents an increase of N91.54bn when compared to the N317.3bn collected during the corresponding period in 2025, amounting to an impressive 28.85 per cent increase in revenue performance,” Abubakar said.

Abubakar stated that the unprecedented growth is not accidental, adding that it is the product of deliberate strategies aimed at strengthening compliance, improving operational efficiency, and fostering constructive engagement with all stakeholders operating within the Free Trade Zones and Lekki Port.

She maintained that the command’s sustained stakeholder engagement programmes have continued to build mutual trust and encourage voluntary compliance with extant customs laws and regulations.

“Through continuous dialogue, education, and collaboration, we have created an environment where legitimate trade can flourish while ensuring that government revenue is adequately protected. Equally important have been the professionalism, integrity, and unwavering commitment demonstrated by the officers and men of this command. Their diligence, discipline, and dedication to duty have contributed significantly to these outstanding achievements and have strengthened the confidence of the trading community in the operations of the NCS,” she said.

Abubakar added that in June, the command recorded its highest monthly revenue collection since inception, generating a total of N87.10bn.

The LFTZ Customs boss highlighted that the historic achievement demonstrated the command’s growing capacity and the increasing confidence of investors and stakeholders operating within the Free Trade Zones under its jurisdiction and Lekki Deep Seaport.

She commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for his visionary leadership and the confidence reposed in the command.

While acknowledging what he described as the invaluable support and cooperation of all sister security and regulatory agencies operating within the port and the Free Zones, the CAC commended stakeholders, including investors, licensed customs agents, importers, exporters, and members of the business community, for their cooperation.

“The synergy among our various agencies has continued to enhance security and facilitate legitimate trade in line with the Federal Government’s economic objectives. Your partnership has been instrumental to the command’s success, and I encourage you to sustain this commendable disposition,” she stated.

“As we look ahead to the second half of the year, we are determined to consolidate on these achievements, improve service delivery, and surpass our performance targets without compromising our statutory responsibilities,” Abubakar said.

She said that since its establishment four years ago, the command has become a model of trade facilitation within the service, stressing that its commitment to efficient trade processes and operational excellence has enhanced the ease of doing business while positioning the command as one of the country’s major revenue-generating commands.
