President Bola Tinubu on Thursday said the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has transformed the capital city into a site of visible results for all to see.
This was as Tinubu expressed his trust and reliance on Wike to keep the promises of the renewed hope agenda to the residents of Abuja and its environs.
He spoke during the commissioning of the Old Keffi Road from Kado Fish Market to Deidei to mark his third year in office and was represented by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
According to Tinubu: “Under this government, we do not reward patronage, we reward competence, if you deliver you get more work and if you fail you are out of the FCT, the minister is not even a minister that would waste time, he will tell you straight that I can’t work with you, you can’t drag me backward; forward ever and backward never.
“Let me speak directly to the FCT Minister, Wike, Mr minister you have turned the FCT into a site of visible results, you inspect projects, decide and follow through, you match development in the city centre with development within the district and also in the area council so that no community in this FCT is left behind and I’m sure that the area council chairmen can confirm this.
“Mr project yours is not a slogan but a record of roads opened, lights installed, and dead lines met. I trust you, I rely on you to keep the promises of the renewed hope agenda and Abuja is better because you are the Minister today. Thank you for your discipline, thank you for your courage and speed of delivery.”
The president also reiterated his earlier stance that there would be no abandoned project under his administration.
“When we assumed office under the renewed hope agenda, we told Nigerians that the era of abandoned projects in Nigeria was over and that era is over. Some of you doubted it but today doubt has no ground to stand on,” he added.
