Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk could be set for an imminent offer from Turkish side Galatasaray in the summer transfer window. Turkish outlet FotoMac claim the Dutch international is ‘ready to leave’ Anfield and he could yet join Mohamed Salah in leaving the club on a free transfer once the season ends.
The report claims Van Dijk is assessing his Liverpool future, following the club’s disappointing campaign. The 34-year-old has one year left on his current Reds’ contract, having agreed an extension last season, but is aware of the club’s plans to sign younger players.
The Reds signed Giovanni Leoni last summer and have agreed a deal with Rennes to sign youngster Jeremy Jacquet, while they’re also in talks to extend Ibrahima Konate’s deal, which expires this summer.

The report adds Van Dijk has been impressed by Galatasaray on the two occasions he’s visited the Turkish outfit in the Champions League this season, with boss Okan Buruk keen on bolstering his options in the heart of defence.
Andy Robertson and Salah are two of the senior stars set to leave Anfield on free transfers this summer, and the report claims Van Dijk could follow suit.
They suggest Van Dijk could even terminate his contract in order to join the Turkish Super Lig club, just as Salah is doing in order to pursue other options.

However, Van Dijk’s recent comments about Liverpool’s rebuild suggest he’s committed to the club until the end of his contract, admitting the Reds needed to put in a lot of work over the summer.
“It has been ups and downs,” Van Dijk said reflecting on this season. “Some wins have felt good. Winning feels good. But we can’t build on that and it has been the story of our season. That is what is difficult.
“Just to go up and down in your emotions is never a good thing. When you win, it’s happy days. When you lose, it is bad and you are held accountable. You have to take responsibility. It’s just life.
“I think it’s unacceptable that we have lost too many times as defending champions of the Premier League and we shouldn’t accept it whatsoever. There will be a lot of work that has to be done going into next season.

“When I am back from the World Cup, I will go into it. But there is a lot of work to do be done behind the scenes.”
