Daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Iyabo, has explained why she resigned from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Iyabo disclosed that she resigned from the APC because she was upset that the party’s consensus candidate in Ogun State failed to keep the promises he made to her and her followers.

Speaking on the Morayo Show, she said: “I resigned from the APC because I was upset that the consensus candidate failed to keep the promises he made to me and my followers.”

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State on Wednesday officially received former Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, following her exit from the APC.

In January 2026, Iyabo Obasanjo returned to active politics after 15 years and joined the ruling APC, where she declared her ambition to run for governor.

However, on May 31, 2026, the former senator resigned from APC after losing the governorship ticket, citing disrespect, betrayal, and unfair treatment by the party’s leadership.
