Dave and Mayu Phillips have secured planning permission from Pembrokeshire County Council to build an eco-home in rural Wales.
The couple intends to breed and consume ‘small-scale livestock’, including guinea pigs, rabbits, and pigeons, as a food source.
Their plans also involve increasing the production of honey and walnuts on the site, all part of an effort to live sustainably.
The project is classified as a ‘One Planet Development’, a Welsh planning policy designed to encourage sustainable living and working on one’s own land.
Mr Phillips clarified that the guinea pigs they plan to raise are a specific breed for meat, distinct from common pets, and are similar to breeding rabbits for consumption.
