Gladiators star Steel has announced the birth of his son, 14 months after the death of their premature son. The star, whose real name is Zack George, and wife Samantha have welcomed a baby boy and revealed their delight.

It comes just over a year after son Leo had been born prematurely at 23 weeks on March 26, 2025. Sadly, the tot died April 7 after weeks of care in a neonatal intensive care unit.

Now, in a sweet a post on Instagram, Zack has uploaded a snap of himself and his wife with their new baby. The parents were seen smiling with their new baby, with Samantha still in her hospital bed.

The Gladiators star explained he hopes the newborn child will help “heal them” following their first son’s death. In the caption, he wrote: “You will heal us more than you will ever know. We love you so much… Our baby boy.”

Fellow Gladiator Matty Campbell, also known as Bionic in the show, was among those commenting on the happy news. He wrote: “Over the moon for you both.” He also added three love heart emojis.

Ella Mae Rayner commented: “OMGGGGG IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH. congrats xxxx.” And Sarah Morsia added: “Ahhh guys. Sending you all so much love xx”

It was revealed in August that the pair were trying for another baby following the death of Leo. They confirmed the decision was aided by their dream of giving daughter Ivy “a friend for life”.

At the time, Samantha told the Mirror: “I love Ivy so much I want to give her a friend for life, we’ve been given the OK to try again when we’re ready…

“It’s been a really short time, but I need to fill that void, we want another baby, another little boy, but we both say, ”Whatever Leo decides to give us”, people say you’ll never replace Leo, but I do feel my next baby will be a big part of him.”

She went on: “We always said we wanted to give Ivy a sibling. We married in September and were pregnant at the end of October. We were so chuffed.”

Speaking of how he felt when finding out something was wrong and his wife was in labour after just 23 weeks, Zack added: “They give you a piece of paper that basically tells you the likelihood of your baby surviving, and if they do, the possibilities of issues with their sight, hearing, and other disabilities.

“They weren’t great stats. We could have chosen an abortion. ut that never would have been an option.”
