Country singer Alexis Wilkins experienced a technical issue during her performance of the national anthem at the U.S. Embassy in Belgium’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Wilkins’ microphone failed during her initial rendition of the ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ at the high-profile event in Parc du Cinquantenaire, as reported by Politico.
U.S. Ambassador Bill White later called Wilkins back to the stage, where her second attempt to sing the anthem was successful.
Wilkins, the girlfriend of FBI Director Kash Patel, had also recently performed the national anthem at a Great American State Fair event organized by Donald Trump.
She has defended her performances against ethics concerns, stating she was invited independently and was not paid, and is currently suing an outlet over a previous report regarding her security detail.
