The Ekiti Council of Elders has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his re-election following his victory in the June 20 Ekiti governorship election.

The elders, who hailed the governor for his performance during his first term in office, said, “We are confident that your second term will reaffirm your commitment to the development of the state.”

The council’s Secretary, Elder Niyi Ajibulu, said in a chat with PUNCH Online in Ado Ekiti on Monday that the elders expressed satisfaction with Oyebanji’s achievements in a letter titled Congratulations on Your Re-election, dated June 25 and signed by the council’s President, Prof. Joseph Oluwasanmi, and Secretary, Ajibulu.

The letter read in part, “The elders are delighted that your first term witnessed remarkable developments.”

They listed the achievements to include “road infrastructure development, which has led to ease of transportation in both urban and rural areas; youth empowerment, particularly in agriculture; and women’s empowerment through small-scale businesses.”

The elders stated that the governor’s achievements also included “attention to the well-being of public servants and retirees, as well as improvements in healthcare service delivery across all demographics. Significantly, elders have benefited from all of the above directly and as parents.

“At the council level, your constant appreciation of the elders’ views, contributions and frequent support in various ways are deeply appreciated. Furthermore, the elders are impressed with your political sagacity, which has largely contributed to the unprecedented peaceful election and calmness in the state.

“Please be assured of the elders’ prayers for your good health and continued success,” the council stated.
