Donald Trump says the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is back “in full use” after “criminally made algae” was removed from the tourist attraction over the weekend.
The US president claimed vandals were to blame for damage to the structure, which has been plagued by problems since undergoing a multimillion-dollar overhaul.
While it remains fenced off with plans to drain and resurface it around the July 4 holiday, Trump gloated on Truth Social that the pool was now working well, adding that the “criminally made algae is gone.”
“It never worked properly until last week and, right after July 4th, when we will drain the water to treat the damage caused by these ‘animals,’ it will again be in perfect shape,” he said.
