Abia State Police Command has confirmed that two pupils who were returning from school last week were kidnapped by an unidentified tricycle operator in Nsulu community, Isiala Ngwa North LGA of the State.
According to the Police Command, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of Isiala Ngwa North Area, confirmed that the case of the abduction had been reported to him.
The Police Public Relations Officer of Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, who was responding to a message from DAILY POST, said investigation had commenced on the matter.
Giving a background of the matter as reported, the Police Spokesperson said that the report at Isiala Ngwa Divisional Police indicated that the kids who were returning from school when it was raining, met a tricycle (Keke) operator who offered them a lift.
She noted that on getting to a point, the Keke operator stopped and told the kids that he was out of fuel, after which he sent the elderly ones among the pupils on errand with one thousand Naira to buy fuel for him.
“He brought out one thousand Naira and a Jerry Can and gave the elder ones the money to get fuel for him.
“Having gotten it and come back, they could neither find the tricyclist and the two younger ones they left in the vehicle”, the PPRO said.
She assured that the case was under investigation.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Umuosu Development Association, Barrah Chiedozie has also confirmed the abduction of the two young pupils from his community.
In a statement he issued on the matter weekend, the community leader said the abducted kids had not been found.
