Tight security as Trump returns to site of assassination attempt for a speech
Prosecutors release video of armed man storming correspondents’ dinner
President Donald Trump is scheduled to return to the Washington Hilton on Friday to address the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s “Road to Majority” event.
This marks his first appearance at the hotel since an incident on April 25, when a man with a shotgun attempted to breach security during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, leading to Trump’s early departure.
The alleged assailant, Cole Tomas Allen, 31, pleaded not guilty to charges of attempting to assassinate Trump and other administration members, after allegedly firing at a Secret Service agent.
Security measures are expected to be significantly increased for Trump’s upcoming visit, with the Secret Service confirming continuous review and adjustment of their security protocols.
The Washington Hilton has a history of presidential security incidents, including a 1981 assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan, and Trump has survived two previous attempts on his life since 2024.
