This latest case is not for faint-hearted viewers.

A landmark Channel 4 documentary is set to air a harrowing episode tonight, accompanied by a stark warning to viewers.

Since its debut back in 2014, 24 Hours in Police Custody has cemented itself as a firm favourite amongst true crime enthusiasts, with legions of viewers eagerly anticipating each new release.

Earlier this year, fresh instalments hit screens, leaving fans shocked and disturbed, before a scheduling shake-up saw it temporarily disappear from TV listings. But tonight, one particularly brutal episode will return to television screens.

The show has built its reputation on plunging viewers headfirst into real-life investigations, shadowing detectives as they tackle serious crimes.

In a race against the clock, audiences witness the raw reality and sheer urgency faced by officers within a local police force as they strive to bring perpetrators to justice.

The documentary series typically follows a case from beginning to end, from the moment a distressing 999 call is received, as detectives painstakingly uncover shocking and brutal truths, reports Wales Online.

From murder and sexual assault to drug gangs, the award-winning programme pulls no punches when it comes to the tense situations confronting detectives – and a further episode is due to air tonight (Thursday, June 25).

Entitled Sudden Death: Think Murder, the repeat episode originally aired in 2019, drawing viewers into an investigation surrounding the sudden death of a 48-year-old woman, with the pursuit of justice ultimately leading detectives across Europe.

Broadcasting on Channel 4 at 9pm, an official synopsis states: “Detectives investigate the sudden death of a 48-year-old woman in Cambridgeshire, and the hunt for clues takes the investigation right across Europe.”

Nevertheless, those planning to watch tonight should take note of an accompanying warning. The Channel 4 caution states: “Graphic images from the start and scenes that viewers may find upsetting. This programme isn’t suitable for younger viewers.”

The episode immediately plunges audiences into police concerns that the sudden death was actually far more sinister than it first appeared.

With very limited information about the victim, investigators quickly discover the horrifying truth surrounding her death.
