A Scotland fan left has dad stunned after he turned up in disguise to surprise him out in Miami. Lee Barron, 38, flew out to Florida on Monday without the knowledge of his father Alan – after months of carefully orchestrated planning by friends and family.
The 67-year-old had travelled to Boston to watch Scotland at the World Cup before making the trip south and had been left gutted that his son hadn’t been able to make it.
In hilarious footage shared with the Record, Lee can be seen showing up at a bar in Fort Lauderdale dressed completely in disguise.

His dad, thinking he was speaking to a local, had no idea it was his son under a pair of sunglasses, a bandana, a fake beard, and fake tattoo sleeves, speaking with an American accent.
In the heart-warming clip, Lee can be heard saying: “Have you been in Miami long?” Before asking: “I bet your son is more handsome than these guys.”
After some more back and forth, Alan is left stunned when Lee revealed his Scotland top underneath a shirt and proceeded to unmask himself.

Lee, from Perth, said: “It went brilliantly. I really did not expect it to go as well as it did. I didn’t expect my dad not to catch on. I think we kept it going for four and a half minutes before I eventually had to let the cat out the bag.
“The surprise was fantastic. Just his reaction in general was fantastic, just to see the utter surprise and shock on his face and disbelief made me feel good about it.
“My dad is 67, we’ve been to up to 30 Scotland away games together. The first one was in 2005 and I’m just so glad that I managed to get over to see him here at the World Cup.

“It was a special moment for both of us. Scotland trips are a big thing in our family but once you get older and you have family obligations, it’s not as easy to get away to these things. So this is a special one. I’m glad I was able to make the trip over for him.”
The father and son enjoyed their first day together in Miami on Tuesday before attending the crunch game against Brazil last night.

Lee said: “We went down for the march and we ended up back at Fort Lauderdale in a boozer. The Tartan Army trips are always fantastic.
“We’re well loved and it’s a great thing to be a part of, it gives you a bit of national pride as well. It’s just good to see that we are putting ourselves on the world map in a good way.”
