A woman has tragically died after being hit by a lorry in the north of Glasgow.

Emergency crews rushed to Saracen Street, north of its junction with Allander Street, this morning.

The alarm was raised around 11.10am after police received a report of a woman being struck by a HGV driven by a 58-year-old man.

When mercy crews arrived, the 68-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s not known at this time if any arrests have been made.

Images from the scene showed police, ambulances and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in attendance.

The road had been cordoned off by cops as officers were pictured standing guard near to a lorry and behind the police tape.

A Police Scotland probe has been launched and investigators are appealing for information.

Sergeant Chris McColm of the Road Policing Unit in Glasgow urged witnesses to come forward as he paid tribute to the victim.

He said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died. Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.

“We urge anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us. We ask any drivers in Saracen Street around the time of the crash to check their dashcam footage and please get in touch if it holds anything which may be relevant to our investigation.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “A 68-year-old woman has died following a collision on Saracen Street, Glasgow on Tuesday, 23 June, 2026. Around 11.10am, the female pedestrian was crossing Saracen Street, north of its junction with Allander Street, when she was struck by an HGV being driven by a 58-year-old man.

“Emergency services attended but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting incident number 1200 of June 23, 2026.”
