Donald Trump has not yet attended any World Cup 2026 matches, despite the US being one of the host nations.
Andrew Giuliani, head of Trump’s World Cup task force, suggested his absence is because “he likes a good cliffhanger’ to keep people watching.
Trump has recently attended other sporting events, such as an NBA Finals game where he was booed, and a UFC fight.
Sources indicate Trump is currently preoccupied with July 4 celebrations and may only attend a semi-final if the US team progresses, or the final to present the trophy.
Other host nation leaders, including Canada’s Prime Minister and Mexico’s President, also missed their national teams’ opening matches, while various US officials and Democrats have attended games.
