The Tartan Army have waved goodbye to Boston after an unforgettable adventure in the city. Our supporters left a lasting impression on the locals – and the feeling was very much mutual.

Bostonians are among the friendliest people I’ve ever met, and it’s hard to imagine a better place for Scotland’s World Cup journey to have begun.

Speaking to locals before boarding our flight to Miami, there was a genuine sense of disappointment that the Scots were heading on their way after a whirlwind 10 days.

They welcomed us with open arms from the moment we arrived, and the memories created together won’t be forgotten in a hurry.

Now, though, the next chapter begins. The Record touched down in Miami on Saturday night alongside hundreds of weary, bleary-eyed Scots ready for the next leg of the adventure.

Remarkably, despite an open bar on our American Airlines flight from Boston, many fans opted for soft drinks after days of non-stop celebrations. Unthinkable scenes.

Any thoughts of taking it easy didn’t last long, though. By Sunday, the Tartan Army’s takeover of Miami was well under way.

And what a place it is. The city feels like another world. Towering skyscrapers dominate a stunning skyline while speedboats and superyachts glide through the turquoise waters below – as us sun-soaked Scots stop to take it all in.

The heat, meanwhile, is on another level. Temperatures are pushing into the high 30s, conditions unlike anything many of us travelling supporters will have experienced before.

While there will be plenty of time to enjoy the sights – and no shortage of bars to sample along the way – staying hydrated could prove just as important as finding the next cold beer.

But if Miami makes the Tartan Army feel even half as welcome as Boston did, then the memories made here could be every bit as special.
