A man has been arrested and charged after a pensioner died in a motorbike crash in Glasgow. Emergency services were called to Pollokshaws Road at the junction with Queen Square following the incident at around 7.45pm on Friday, December 12.

Two people were taken to hospital after a pedestrian had been involved in a collision with a Triumph Bonneville motorbike. A 74-year-old woman, the pedestrian, did not survive her injuries and died in hospital nine days later, on Sunday, December 21.

The road was closed to allow enquiries to be carried out and re-opened around 12.30am on Saturday, December 13. Police Scotland have today confirmed that a 52-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences on Tuesday, June 16.

He is subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “A 52-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences after a woman died following a crash on Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow.

“The incident happened around 7.45pm on Friday, December 12 2025, and involved a Triumph Bonneville motorbike and a female pedestrian on the A77 Pollokshaws Road at the junction with Queen Square.

“Emergency services attended and the 74-year-old pedestrian was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she later died on Sunday, December 21 2025.

“The man was arrested and charged on Tuesday, June 16 and is the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.”
