The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped woman and arrested a suspect following a coordinated operation involving police operatives, vigilantes and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, JTF.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, disclosed this on Wednesday, while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on recent security operations and achievements recorded by the command.

Hadejia said the victim, identified as Asmau Isah, was abducted during an attack on her residence in the Bayan Forestry area of Birnin Kebbi on June 10.

According to the commissioner, seven armed men invaded the residence, stole N220,000 and mobile phones before whisking the victim away to an unknown destination.

“Following a swift response by police operatives supported by vigilantes and members of the Civilian JTF, the victim was rescued unharmed and one suspect, Abubakar Siddi, was arrested,” he said.

Hadejia added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang involved in the abduction.

The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state through intelligence-led operations and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies, assuring them that all reports would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

“The Kebbi Police Command remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of all law-abiding citizens across the state,” he said.
