Investigation finds rope jumper, 21, died as instructors failed to attach cord

A 21-year-old woman, Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, died during a rope jumping incident in Brazil after not being attached to any safety equipment.
Three instructors involved in the incident have been arrested and could face manslaughter charges.
The instructors admitted de Freitas was not connected to safety ropes but could not recall why or who was responsible for checking.
The incident occurred on Saturday at Ponte do Esqueleto, an abandoned bridge in Limeira, São Paulo state.
De Freitas had requested to be launched from the bridge “airplane style”, with two instructors hoisting her as she spread her arms.
