A man has been found stabbed in a property in South Ayrshire.

Police were called to the property on Davidson Place in Ayr at about 3.30pm on Saturday.

Emergency services said the man, 57, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Police Scotland said “extensive inquiries are under way as officers work to establish how the man came about his injuries“.

Detective constable Stewart Gordon said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to consider if they noticed or saw anything suspicious. Any small detail could help us, so please pass it on.”

Peter Murrell bought a £4795 luxury watch with SNP money the day after his party suffered shock losses in the 2017 general election.

The ex-chief executive and estranged husband of Nicola Sturgeon has admitted embezzling more than £400,000 from the party after a spending spree spanning more than a decade.

And hours after the SNP lost a third of its Westminster seats in 2017 – including Alex Salmond’s Gordon constituency – Murrell bought a black Bremont ALT1 World Timer for £4795.

Murrell embezzled, on average, more than £90 a day of SNP funds daily for 12 years before he was stopped.

An allegation relating to a white Bremont ALT1 World Timer watch bought in May 2017 costing £4555 was removed from the indictment. But the black Bremont ALT1 World Timer costing £4795, bought in 2017, stayed on the list.

Two of Kayden Moy’s killers posing with knives

Young men are carrying knives to boost their status on social media, a leading expert has warned.

Dr David Smith, a social psychology expert at Aberdeen’s Robert Gordon University, believes youths in gangs are provoking violent confrontations by boasting about their weapons online.

The Scottish Government is facing demands to reintroduce a zero-tolerance approach to knife crime following the shocking murder of teenager Kayden Moy on an Ayrshire beach.

One of his killers had previously walked free from court despite being caught carrying a machete.

Dr Smith said: “Looking at the killers of Kayden Moy, there’s evidence of them posing online with weapons, including machetes, implying they were doing it for status or notoriety…

“If young people know their peers are carrying knives, because they see it in person or online, then it makes it more likely they’ll do the same.”

Racially motivated offences have surged in Scotland with 5871 incidents in the last year, figures show.

Police Scotland data shows a 13 per cent rise in the 12 months to March – an increase of 670 in race hate crimes compared with the previous year.

It comes as protests erupted in several locations across Scotland this week following a stabbing in Belfast.

Hadi Alodid, 30, who is Sudanese, was charged with the attempted murder of Stephen Ogilvie, 40, who has links to Scotland. Far-right groups have been accused of using the incident to fuel division.

Scotland has also witnessed a string of increasingly vocal anti-immigration protests at several sites over the past 12 months, including hotels and other accommodation for asylum seekers.

There have been 60 hate crimes logged at accommodation housing asylum seekers, 48 of which were racially aggravated, according to a force report.
