A man is fighting for his life after a ‘stabbing’ at a home in Renfrew as police make an arrest.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene in the early hours of Monday, June 8. An alarm was raised around 5.40am after police received a report of an alleged serious assault.

A man – age unknown – was blue-lighted in an ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. He is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries.

A 19-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection. He appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday, June 9.

According to local reports, a police cordon remained in place on Victoria Drive East this morning, June 12. Investigating officers have since left the scene, reports Glasgow Live.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.40am on Monday, 8 June, 2026 police received a report of a man being seriously assaulted within a property in Renfrew.

“He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is currently being treated for life threatening injuries.

“A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged and is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 9 June, 2026.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
