Amanda Holden has sparked a reaction from her co-star Jamie Theakston and Heart Radio listeners this week after making a candid admission about her marriage. The 55-year-old often discusses her relationship on air, with many of her revelations proving relatable to listeners. However, her latest confession raised a few eyebrows.
According to the Britain’s Got Talent judge, she shows her husband Chris Hughes affection in the form of kissing at least 10 times a day. During a conversation with Jamie live on their show, she asked: “What do you believe the secret to a happy marriage is?”
As he struggled to find an answer, Amanda read out research from a survey on the key ingredients for a happy marriage. One of the findings suggested that kissing at least 10 times a week is important in a relationship.
Sharing her thoughts, the host, who has been married to Chris since 2008, said: “Which I think is quite low in seven days, even by my standards and my husband, who nags me all the time, would say you do that in a day, 10 kisses, probably.”
Shocked by her admission, Jamie replied: “You kiss your husband 10 times a day?”

“I would say so,” she said, prompting further disbelief from her co-star. “Even if I gave him a Glaswegian one,” she laughed. “Everyone in Scotland would know what that is. But yeah we do, we have a good old snog.”
Still unconvinced, Jamie said he didn’t believe her, to which Amanda responded: “What do you mean? I think that’s the easiest thing to get out the way in a marriage.”
Sharing more findings from the survey, Amanda said another secret to a happy marriage was apparently saying ‘I love you’ at least nine times a week, having 10 deep and meaningful conversations each month, and going on a date at least three times a month.
Discussing the latter, the presenter admitted she found it “utterly impossible” to achieve with her busy schedule while raising two daughters.
“Me and Chris, if we’re lucky, we might go out for dinner once a month on our own,” she added.

Addressing the recommendation of having meaningful conversations so frequently, she continued: “We definitely don’t have meaningful conversations, that’s up to nearly three a week! Ours are like, ‘What do you want for your tea? What are our plans for Sunday?’ That’s as deep and meaningful as it gets,” she laughed.
Later in the show, Amanda and Jamie read out listeners’ responses to the topic and not everyone was impressed.
One claimed her 10-year-old son was so “disgusted” by Amanda’s admission while eating his breakfast, he walked out of the room. “He called out ‘disgusting’ as he left,” the listener claimed.
