Footy fans feel more stressed watching England than they do cheering on their own club.
Watching the national team leaves many long-suffering fans feeling more anxious (62%) compared to 45% who said they feel excited while cheering on the Three Lions.
Tournaments like the World Cup add even more pressure, as England fans find them more stressful (38%) than watching their own club side (26%) during the season.
According to research by QD Stores, it’s penalty shootouts that one in five fans can’t bear (21%), while a third (32%) admit they’ve walked out of a football match because they found it too much.
Despite the nerves, of the 2,000 Brits quizzed a whopping 73% still plan to watch England’s matches from home this summer.
One tenth (11%) plan to head to the pub, while 7% will watch at a friend or family member’s house.
Most are planning to go all out and get behind England, with 72% planning to decorate their home or garden in England colours this summer as well as getting kitted out with shirts and scarves.
