Morgan Wallen is speaking out after his Saturday, June 6, concert in Pittsburgh was canceled at the last minute.

“This morning my team walked on my bus, told me that they had been consulting with local officials and that I should cancel my show in Pittsburgh tonight,” Wallen, 33, said in a late-night video shared via his Instagram Stories. “I said, ‘Why?’ They said that there was going to be strong winds in the area, and I said, ‘OK.’ So, that’s what I did, and that was the information that I had in the moment.”

He continued, “I trusted my team, and I understand that the wind and whatever else happened hasn’t gotten to Pittsburgh yet. I know it has touched some of Pennsylvania, so my heart goes out to all those affected by it.”

Wallen further explained the reason for canceling his show.

“The truth of the matter is I have a large stage, that in those conditions, could become fatal to a lot of folks around it,” he said. “I did the best I could with the information that I had in that moment. I’ve been seeing a lot of nonsense about me that is simply not true, and I just wanted to clear the air.”

The country singer further stressed that his “true fans” understand safety comes first.

“I think my true fans know that’s not how I operate in general,” he said of the swirling online speculation. “I had to say it, y’all take care.”

Wallen announced several hours earlier that the concert would be canceled.

“After talking with local officials and my team, there is no choice but to cancel tonight’s show due to severe adverse weather conditions expected throughout the rest of the day and night,” he wrote in a statement at the time. “Safety for my fans and crew is the highest priority. Refunds available at point of purchase.”

The show, which was scheduled to be held at the Acrisure Stadium, was canceled following weather forecasts of scattered thunderstorms in the area.

“It is what it is. You can’t control Mother Nature,” one fan told TribLive of the show he was planning to attend. “ It’s fortunate we’re going to be able to get our tickets refunded.”

Wallen is currently traveling on his Still The Problem Tour, in which he went viral late last month after overturning a piano during a Colorado concert.

“Hey, I just want you guys to know that right now the piano is working,” he said in a TikTok video afterward. “That’s what they told me last night, too.”
