A four-month-old baby that was thrown from a car during a high-speed chase miraculously escaped with minor injuries.
The SUV crashed and overturned after the driver allegedly tried to flee officers while travelling at speeds more than 100mph in Camden, Arkansas, on May 24. Police said four children – all under the age of six – were inside the SUV at the time. While the baby was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, the three others were safely removed from the wreckage, away from live power lines.
The driver, 28-year-old Tyrice Fletcher, has been arrested. Arkansas State Police said officers attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation, but the suspect continued driving, reaching speeds of more than 100mph as it left Camden city limits and continued south on Ouachita County Road 47.

The suspect reportedly passed several vehicles and swerved into oncoming traffic. Police said they attempted to end the chase by hitting the vehicle and were unaware children were inside at the time. The suspect then lost control of the vehicle, which went through a yard, struck a pole and overturned, police said.

All four children were taken by ambulance to Ouachita County Medical Center for evaluation and treated for minor injuries. The mother of the children was notified and responded to the hospital.
Fletcher was taken into custody and is being held at the Ouachita County Detention Center. He is facing multiple charges, including fleeing, four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, and other gun and drug-related charges.

Capt Rick Neill said in a press release: “The suspect’s decisions placed four innocent victims in harm’s way. At any point during the pursuit, the suspect could have stopped. He refused to stop. The danger created that day was the direct result of the suspect’s actions.”
