Denmark’s friendly clash with Ukraine was brought to a pause after Christian Eriksen suffered from a ‘medical emergency’.
The two sides clashed in Odense on Sunday but the game was brought to a halt midway through the second period after the midfielder collapsed to the floor. Reports in the Danish media claimed that the player involved was former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United star Christian Eriksen.
And the Danish FA have confirmed that it was indeed Eriksen, but assured fans that he was concious. A statement read: “Christian Eriksen is conscious and doing well under the circumstances. The match has been called off.”
The Danish midfielder had previously suffered from a cardiac arrest during Euro 2020 when Denmark were taking on Finland. He was contracted to Italian giants Inter Milan.
He made a full recovery and returned to the Premier League with Brentford, after Serie A rules prevented him from playing with a defibrillator.
Denmark were leading 2-1 at the time of Eriksen’s latest incident. Patrick Dorgu and Joakim Mæhle had scored for their nation, with Viktor Tsygankov netting just before the break.
