Anthony Gordon has revealed that Marcus Rashford has been helping him out with local tips and insight as he prepares for his blockbuster move to Barcelona.

The two wingers, who will be battling it out for a spot on England’s left-side at the World Cup, are together in camp with Gordon recently sealing his £70million move from Newcastle to Barcelona.

Rashford has just spent the year in Spain, on loan from Manchester United. The forward is hoping to seal a permanent switch and Barcelona hold a £26m option to sign him, but hope to negotiate new terms whilst they’re also trying to balance their books.

Their signing of Gordon could yet hamper their ability to go after Rashford, especially as they also want to land Julian Alvarez from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid. But despite that the United loanee has been doing all he can to ensure Gordon is well equipped to begin life in Barcelona.

He told talkSPORT: “He was just telling me how good the lads are there, the team spirit that they have, which I heard already from the people in Barca.

“So I’m really looking forward to joining up with them. He was also telling me about the city, places to live. He’s a lovely guy, very caring. So he was just giving me a bit of information.”

In the modern age Englishmen making the switch to Barcelona has been a rare thing. Rashford though endured some memorable moments, one of which was his brace for the Catalans to down Gordon and Newcastle in the Champions League. Gordon will hope to prove his worth after they paid a hefty fee but is adamant he can deliver.

“It’s been a bit of a whirlwind of two weeks, but the best two weeks I’ve ever had for me and my family,” said the winger. “It’s been really good because I’ve told them from a very young age, I said in my interview, that I would get to this point. But they were saying to me, congrats and stuff and this and that.

“I’m not satisfied at all to just play for Barcelona. I want to win everything. This is where my career begins in my mind. So I’m at the stage I always said I was going to be. Now I need to get to the next level again.”
